Cool North Shore 2009

Cool North Shore is community-focused initiative that brings North Shore residents together to do something now about global warming. At its heart is a goal to reduce the carbon footprint of participating individuals and institutions in a short period of time – our vision is “All North Shore residents, from Deep Cove to Lions Bay, taking action together, to create a low carbon community.”

Many North Shore citizens know that climate change threatens the future health of the planet, our community and the future we’re leaving for our children. Figuring out how to respond to these concerns can be overwhelming and confusing. This is where Cool North Shore offers a positive, non-judgmental and proven path to getting involved in making a difference, and connecting with others who share your desire for a better future. After a successful pilot in 2008, involving 90 people in two evening Climate Change Café’s that were featured in the North Shore News and the Outlook, we will be holding a series of Cafes in 2009, the next one is April 28, 2009. Also in 2009 we will expand Cool North Shore to reach a significant number of local citizens and institutions through various means, engaging the education, faith and business communities and offering a broader array of programming and support for individuals and institutions. If you would like to get involved as a volunteer with Cool North Shore or learn more, please contact info@coolnorthshore.ca
