Our initial focus is on the three North Shore municipalities: the City of North Vancouver, the District of North Vancouver and the District of West Vancouver. We may in the future consider increasing our geographical scope as we build capacity to also include citizens of Bowen Island and Lion’s Bay, if the interest is there to join our initiative.
In the broadest sense, the beneficiaries of our work are the present and future generations of citizens of the three North Shore municipalities. When every day brings more news of major challenges to our society and communities, the need for a strong citizens’ voice urging a response to these issues could not be more urgent. There are a myriad of organizations on the North Shore that address specific issues or needs identified above, but until Legacy North Shore was formed there was no organization that attempted to acknowledge and integrate all these perspectives and leverage the combined message. Legacy North Shore is the only citizen-driven organization on the North Shore that specifically advocates for a proactive, future-focused agenda for business, citizens, institutions and government to pursue a sustainable future.
