Programs

Given the challenges of focus inherent in the breadth and ambition of our vision and long-term goals, LNS recognizes the need to have some short-term initiatives and goals that will help build momentum for the longer journey. Described below are the four projects that we will be focusing on in 2008-9.

Two of these projects have been underway for the past 6 months and have been modestly funded (Community Sustainability Connections and Cool North Shore) and all have received enthusiastic personal support from the three local Mayors. In addition, at a half-day forum with over 70 local community leaders in January 2008 hosted by LNS, we received strong support for this direction and a strong indication of many people wanting to get involved in moving these ahead. In fact, we believe that strong volunteer leadership will be key to the success of these initiatives.
